Factors That Influence Learning
1. Intelligence Factor
What is meant by intelligence is the ability of a person to carry out thinking activities that are complex and abstract. The level of intelligence of each is not the same. Some are high, some are medium and some are low. People with high intelligence can process ideas that are abstract, complicated and difficult to do quickly without many difficulties compared to people who are less intelligent.
Intelligent people can think and do more, faster with relatively little effort. Intelligence is an ability that is brought from birth whereas education cannot improve it, but can only develop it. But this high intelligence of a person is not a guarantee that he will succeed in completing education well, because success in learning is not only determined by intelligence, but also by other factors.
2. Learning Factors
What is meant by the learning factor is that all aspects of learning activities, for example are less able to focus attention on the subject being faced, cannot master the rules that are related so that they cannot read all the material that should be read. Included here is less mastered ways to learn effectively and efficiently.
3. Attitude Factor
Many factors influence attitudes towards students’ activities and success in learning. Attitude can determine whether someone will be able to learn fluently or not, long-lasting learning or not, happy lessons they face or not and many others. Among the attitudes meant here are interest, open-mindedness, prejudice or loyalty. A positive attitude towards learning stimulates the speed of learning.
4. Activity Factor
Activity factors are factors that are related to health, physical fitness and physical condition of a person. As is well known, unhealthy bodies disturb the concentration of the mind so that it interferes with learning activities.
5. Emotional and Social Factors
Emotional factors such as displeasure and liking and social factors such as competition and cooperation have a profound effect on the learning process. There are some of these factors that encourage learning but there are also obstacles to effective learning.
6. Environmental Factors
What is meant by environmental factors is the circumstances and atmosphere in which a person learns. The atmosphere and condition of the place of study also determine the success or failure of learning activities. Noise, foul odors and mosquitoes that interfere with study time and the chaotic conditions at the learning place have a huge effect on learning success. Relationships that are less harmonious with friends can disrupt concentration in learning.
7. Teacher Factors
The teacher’s personality, the teacher’s relationship with students, the teacher’s ability to teach and the teacher’s attention to the ability of students also influence learning success. Teachers who are less able to teach well and who lack knowledge of the material taught can cause dislikes to be taught and lack of encouragement to master it on the part of students.
